Setup newsletter via Mailchimp

Find API Key

  1. Login to your MailChimp account

  2. Navigate to your profile

3. Select Extras/Api Keys

4. Click on Create API Key and copy API key value

Find List ID

  1. Open Lists page

  2. Create a new list or select a list that you are interested

  3. From drop-down menu please select Settings menu item

4. Scroll down and find List-ID, please send it to me by email together with API Key. This way you allow to update your list. In case you want to stop it, you will need to deactivate API Key.

Following Field Tags are required: EMAIL, FNAME

By using Birthday or Last visit dates it is possible to send emails with promotion for a birthday or send a reminder to visit again for example after 90 days from the last visit. In order to send this notification properly, you need to mark in reservation Visited. Notification will be sent only to guests who visited your restaurant.

Newsletter custom field

By default, a user does not grant permission to send newsletter emails to him. This is to comply with GDPR regulations. In order to get consent from users, a custom file with the type “Newsletter” should be added.

Custom field to collect Birthday

To collect Birthday, you will need also to add a custom field in plugin settings: Birthday (dd/mm)

In order to be compliant with GDPR regulation, a user has to be specifically asked for permission in order to add him to the subscription list. To achieve that new check box has to be added to custom fields:

 

Addon Synchronization

Synchronization with MailChimp runs every night at 0:00 UTC. There are two types of MailChimp synchronization:

  • All reservations that were created on the previous day are synced.

  • The last visited date is synched on the next day after reservation. The visited date will be set only for guests for which reservation was marked with Visited flag.
